MANILA – At least 7,407 individuals have been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) during the May 9 national elections, a health official said Tuesday.
The vaccination was held in 333 pop-up vaccination sites set up by the Department of Health (DOH) and local government units in areas near voting centers.
“Naabot na po natin ang 76 percent ng ating eligible population na mabakunahan (We have reached 76 percent of our [targeted] eligible population [fully] vaccinated),” said DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire during an online media forum.
The vaccination sites aimed to make Covid-19 vaccines more accessible to the public.
As of May 9, more than 68 million are fully vaccinated. Of the total number, about 6.7 million are senior citizens, 9 million are immunocompromised individuals, 9.3 million are adolescents and 2.2 million are children ages 5 to 11 years old.
Moreover, about 13.5 million fully vaccinated individuals have already received their booster shots.
Vergeire urged the 37.8 million who have not received their booster shots to get the additional dose of protection. (PNA)
