OTTAWA: The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa and the League for Human Rights of B’Nai Brith Canada invite everyone to a special screening of “Rescue in the Philippines—Refuge from the Holocaust,” a documentary on the Jewish families who escaped the Holocaust and how the Philippines opened its doors to them during those desperate times. The film will allow the viewers to learn about this remarkable story.

Rescue in the Philippines” will go live on Tuesday, 13 April 2022, 7:00 pm at https://www.bnaibrith.ca/rescue-in-the-philippines/

“Rescue in The Philippines” is a one-hour documentary of the previously untold story of how the five Frieder brothers, Cincinnati businessmen making two-for-a-nickel cigars in pre-WWII Manila, together with Manuel Quezon, the charismatic first president of the Philippines, Paul McNutt, US High Commissioner and former governor of Indiana (preparing for his own presidential campaign) and an ambitious Army Colonel named Dwight Eisenhower –  helped 1,200 Jews escape the Nazis and immigrate to the Philippines.

The Philippines Ambassador to Canada Rodolfo Robles will welcome the viewers and introduce the speakers, B’nai Brith CEO Michael Mostyn and League for Human Rights National Director Marvin Rotrand.
